What Happens During a Body Wrap Appointment?

First, you will be expected to strip down to your underwear, because the wraps are usually applied everywhere but the genitals and head. If you’ve selected exfoliation first, this step will happen now, with the technician typically using a scrub to remove dead skin cells followed by a rinse to remove the exfoliant.

Next: Medical German designed body wraps are soaked in South Bay Wax Spa’s signature herbal blend will be applied to the body and wrapped firmly. Heated blankets may be applied to hold the herbs close to the skin and promote further sweating. Your technician will then leave you on your own for 20 to 40 minutes of relaxation, or during this time you can opt for a facial during your body wrap.

When your technician returns, you will be unwrapped slowly, remeasured and wiped down with warm towels. Avoid using body wash or soap to prevent removing the lasting effects of the herbal solution from your skin. Finally, your technician will apply a moisturizing treatment to your body to seal and hydrate your skin, and you will be allowed to dress. As you dress, you may feel supremely relaxed, so please use caution.

What Should I Expect After Wrapping?

You can expect your skin to feel softened, moisturized, and rejuvenated. In addition, you will likely lose some inches from the wrapped areas, a fortunate side effect of detoxifying, though South Bay Wax Spa cannot guarantee you will lose a particular number of inches. Continue to drink an adequate amount of water to promote hydration and the detoxifying process. Similarly, make an effort to eat healthy foods – detoxifying the body should come from within, as well.

What Is a Body Wrap?

Body wraps are also referred to as body cocoons or body masks, but we at South Bay Wax Spa prefer the term body wrap. A cloth-like material from Germany is soaked in a solution meant to nourish, detoxify, exfoliate, or otherwise aid the skin. The material is wrapped around the body and left to soak, promoting the skin’s health, detoxification, and inch loss.

Detoxification wraps often use clay, mud, algae, seaweed or herbs to accelerate the skin’s natural metabolism. This, in turn, is said to promote the movement of toxins out of the bloodstream and out of the pores. The loss of inches from the body is another benefit of wrapping, allowing clothing to fit better and clients to feel slimmer.
