Many of our Hermosa beach waxing clients know that waxing can be a great way to keep unwanted hairs at bay and prevent the problems associated with shaving, but there are some ground rules to follow.
Do not wax the entire face:
We have clients in the Hermosa Beach and Torrance, CA area who come in and want to remove all of their facial hair. Hair removal of all facial hair is not recommended. Sure you can wax or sugar the lips, chin, brow line…great…but leave the peach fuzz on the cheeks and forehead alone if at all possible. These very fine hairs are responsible for softening your skin and these same hair follicles produce natural oil to keep the skin protected and moist. Removing these little hairs can cause many problems like disturbing the natural balance in oil production and in most caseswill lead to skin dryness. Ladies we do not want to induce dry skin and hears one of the reason why. Dry skin wrinkles faster and easier than oily or balanced skin.
Don’t over tweeze your eyebrows in between sugaring or waxing appointments.
Tweeze only strays and leave the little hairs right around the natural shape of your brows. This way, your brows will keep their natural beautiful shape. Also I would like to add we do offer permanent organic eyebrow makeup at our Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach waxing and sugaring spas.
Do not overexpose your skin to the sun or tanning bulbs just before or after sugaring/waxing.
We tell our Hermosa and Manhattan Beach clients to wait at least a week before and after a waxing or sugaring before any tanning under tanning bulbs. Make sure you protect your skin with a natural sunblock and no sunbathing! Just a reminder no one would want to be waxed over a sun burned area. Ouch!
Prep your skin at home before your body waxing appointment.
Use a gentle body scrub at home the night before your waxing appointment to remove any dead skin cells that have accumulated on the surface. This will ensure the smoothest results as the wax will only pick up hair and not dead skin. We also tell all our new Hermosa Beach waxing clients to never, never shave the day before or even three or four day before a sugaring or waxing. This is especially true if you are going to do a Brazilian wax or bikini wax.
