When considering a Brazilian wax or Bikini wax done by sugaring many of our clients in the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach area want to know if sugaring is painless or is sugaring less painful?
Well most of our sugaring clients from our Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach report that a Brazilian wax or a bikini wax done by sugaring is “less painful”.
As most know sugaring in LA area is becoming more popular than waxing. So is being less painful the reason? Sugaring is similar to waxing in some ways. But the hair removal process by sugaring is different. When sugaring a thick sugary substance similar to caramel is spread on the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth. The hair becomes embedded in the caramel. Then the compound is removed quickly in the direction of the hair growth, pulling the hairs out of the follicles. The advantage of this method over traditional waxing is the clean up and the fact that the sugar adheres to the hair only thus reducing pain. The sugar substance is water-soluble and can be removed easier than wax by rinsing with water.

More painless tips
– Hair needs to be at least 1/8 inch long for sugaring (about 2 to 3 weeks growth).
– For your 1st bikini / Brazilian do trim a bit if you have long hair. Long hairs make the estheticians job a little harder and may give you more discomfort.
– Do NOT tan 24 hours before or after sugaring.
– No exercise 24 hours after bikini, brazilin, chest or back.
– Less time between sugaring means the hairs will be shorter, thinner and sparser because they are not fully matured. – For facial sugaring, please let us know if you are using any acne medications. I do not recommend sugaring for clients on Accutane.
– Taking Advil before sugaring might help reduce pain or inflammation for sugaring or waxing.
– Most hair will grow back from 10 days to 3 weeks, depending on the individual.
– If this is your first sugaring, please allow a few days before the big event (Wedding).
