Microblading, microshading, microfeathering– the beauty world is constantly coming up with innovative ways to create gorgeous, long-lasting looks. Of these, microblading may be the newest on the block, but it’s a trend that’s sure to last. Not all permanent makeup is worth the investment, but strong eyebrows are here to stay.

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that has rapidly gained popularity among celebrities, social media stars, and fashion-forward people. Using super-fine tattooing methods to create lush, natural-looking eyebrows, microblading lasts anywhere from 12 months to three years.

With microbladed brows you will always wake up gorgeous, even with no other makeup on!

Microblading for the Fashion Forward

Microblading uses a super-fine tattooing technique. A microblading “pen” is typically a bundle of 12 to 15 fine needles that deposit pigment into your skin. The stylist will draw hair-like strokes with this pen, creating a natural look. The entire process typically takes two hours.

The pigment applied by the stylist will only reach the superficial layers of your skin. Because the pigment doesn’t get too deep, microbladed brows will fade over time.

Clients describe microblading as feeling like little scratches – a lot less discomfort than face waxing or plucking. If you do have sensitive skin around your eyebrow area, you can apply numbing cream.

At least one week before your appointment, it is crucial that you avoid excess alcohol, stop taking aspirin, and pause any retinol usage. Each of these work to thin the blood and the thinner your blood, the more likely you are to bleed during the procedure. Excess bleeding will stop the pigment from sticking to your skin.

It’s important to schedule touch-up appointments and take care of your brows after having them microbladed. Microblading is worth every penny, and treating your brows right will ensure it lasts longer.

What to Expect After Microblading

No matter what your treatment, aftercare is essential, but the areas around your brows are sensitive, so protect them. Your stylists can advise you on the best care for your microblading both immediately and for the future. Though you can return to your normal life after microblading, be cautious about moisture during the healing process. For at least a week, avoid sweaty workouts, using water on your face, and swimming. Avoid using makeup or other products on your brows while they heal.

You will usually need to schedule a touch-up appointment a month after microblading. Depending on your lifestyle, you may need to get touch-ups every six months or so. Proper aftercare will extend the life of your brows.
