Many of our Brazilian waxing clients have asked about the history behind Brazilian waxing (Sugaring).

One of the most interesting things about Brazilian waxing is that it didn’t catch on in the United States until the late ’80s/early ’90s. It is thought that Brazilian waxing was brought to the US in 1987 by seven sisters from Brazil. Throughout the history of Brazilian waxing, underwear, swimsuits, and lingerie have gotten increasingly skimpier, drawing a need for the removal of more hair around the bikini area. Brazilian waxing was a great solution to that problem. One can easily understand why Brazilian waxing (Sugaring) gained popularity in the Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach area.

Though Brazilian waxing becomes popular in the Los Angeles area in the early 2000s, the history of Brazilian waxing can be traced as far as 3,000 years ago in Egypt. They used their form of Brazilian waxing for pre-wedding (and other) ceremonies, using sugar paste mixed with lemon. This has led to another form of Brazilian waxing, called sugaring. It is used in place of Brazilian waxing, because it is sometimes faster and more painless than actual Brazilian waxing. All our clients at our Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach solons prefer sugar Brazilians over Brazilian waxing.

The best part about Brazilian waxing (sugaring) is how great you feel afterward. Don’t miss out on the ability to rave about Brazilian waxing!
